The Minsa will investigate quarantine violations, after PRD meeting at Parrillada Jimmy's

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) announced the opening of an investigation for the breach of several decrees and regulations issued amid the coronavirus pandemic, after the deputies of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) official held a meeting at the Parrillada Jimmy’s restaurant, which generated a citizen protest.

The investigation will be led by Israel Cedeño, director of the Metropolitan Health Region.

"The file was opened to investigate the place for violation of the decrees," said Cedeño.

One of those decrees, No. 500 of March 19, 2020, signed by President Laurentino Cortizo and the Minister of Health, Rosario Turner, ordered the temporary closure of several commercial activities, including restaurants, which can only dispatch deliveries to address or take-away orders; customers cannot consume food on the premises. Parrillada Jimmy's said they are closed and the home service will be provided as of July 1, therefore, the place operated this Thursday exclusively for the PRD deputies.

Dr. Cedeño specified that the investigation is for the alleged violation of Executive Decree No. 500, among others.

The PRD caucus arrived this Thursday, June 18, at Parrillada Jimmy's, once the closing of the extraordinary sessions concluded with the approval, in third debate, of bill 287, which establishes moratoriums on bank loan payments.

The appointment was also attended by the PRD general secretary, Pedro Miguel González, and the first vice president, Doris Zapata, who is also Minister of Labor and Social Development.

The ministry, which Zapata is leading, has prohibited the holding of labor meetings for more than 10 people.

The PRD alleges, on their Twitter account, that they are authorized to "meet and carry out their duties." At the meeting, it was defined who will be on the board of directors of the National Assembly, as of July 1. The bench agreed to re-elect Marcos Castillero as president and Ricardo Torres as head of the bench. For the first vice presidency, it was agreed to support Deputy Cenobia Vargas.
