Tens of thousands show support for Hong Kong police

Organisers of a pro-police rally called “Safeguard Hong Kong” say the event drew about 316,000 people, while the police estimate 103,000 attended at the peak of the event. It called for an end to violence in the ongoing anti-extradition bill protests.

On the eve of the rally, Hong Kong police said they seized 2kg of powerful explosives, 10 petrol bombs and acidic substances, along with knives and metal rods at an industrial block in Tsuen Wan. T-shirts with the name of a pro-independence group, leaflets saying “no extradition to China”, and pamphlets on the June 9 protest march were also among other items seized.
