The prime minister has thanked teachers and home-schooling parents for their "astonishing work" over the coronavirus pandemic.
During the Downing Street press briefing, Boris Johnson said it the government would be "building on your efforts" to get schoolchildren up to speed from lost learning.
Schools in England were allowed to reopen from Monday 8 March - some have staggered opening for different age groups.
