’Tampon tax’ ditched by Britain as Brexit get under way

The so-called ’tampon tax’ has been ditched by UK as it became the latest country to eliminate sales tax on women’s sanitary products.

Women’s rights activists along with supporters of UK’s departure from the EU widely praised the move. The rate of value-added-tax on menstrual products cannot be reduced below 5% under the EU law as they are deemed to be luxury items rather than essentials.
