The first of two consecutive supermoons launching in 2022 will light the sky on June 14.
The first of the two supermoons this year will rise during the middle of this month, the first full moon of its kind in nearly a year.
A supermoon is a full moon that appears slightly bigger and brighter than normal, although the difference between a supermoon and a normal full moon can be imperceptible without a side-by-side picture comparison. The last supermoon to light up the night sky rose in May last year.
June's full moon is also known as the Strawberry Moon, leading some to refer to the upcoming event as a Super Strawberry Moon.
According to the Observatory, the supermoon will rise on the night of next Tuesday at 7.52pm.
Whereas the second supermoon - also the final and the largest of the year - will glow on July 14 at 2.38am. The moon will be 357417.824 kilometers from Earth at the peak of the full moon phase by then.
