Sunny Tan, executive deputy chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, is challenging Felix Chung Kwok-ban of the Liberal Party for his seat in the Legislative Council's textiles and garment sector.
Eleven other candidates submitted nominations on Tuesday for the elections on December 19. Hoping to help people grasp opportunities in the Greater Bay Area, Tan said: “The industry needs someone who can communicate with the central and Hong Kong governments."
Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, vice-president of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, also submitted his nomination in the sports, performing arts, culture and publication sector.
Also running in that sector is William So Wai-leung, chief manager of Ming Pao Publications.
Edmund Wong Chun-sek of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong is running for the accountancy sector seat.
A former president of the Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors, Wong said it was not difficult to get nominations, with one of his from Accountancy Caring Alliance executive chair Nelson Lam chi-yuen.
Another DAB candidate, Steven Ho Chun-yin, seeks re-election to the agriculture and fisheries seat.
Frankie Yick Chi-ming of the Liberal Party and independent Ronick Chan Chun-ying are also looking for new terms in the transport and the finance sectors respectively.
Also from the Liberal Party is Lee Chun-keung for the election committee constituency. He submitted his nomination yesterday along with Yick.
Vie Tseng Chin-i, a presenter at Phoenix TV, will also run in the election committee sectoralong with Doreen Kong Yuk-foon, a Council Member of the Law Society of Hong Kong, and Gary Wong Chi-him, a board member of the Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macao Studies.
There are 40 spots in the constituency, and seven candidates have now submitted nominations.
In a geographical constituency, incumbent Vincent Cheng Wing-shun from the DAB will run for Kowloon West.
