Some six million citizens register for the vouchers

Some six million people in the city have registered for the vouchers since registration opened two weeks ago, according to Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po.

He and lawmaker Tommy Cheung Yu-yan had dim sum at a Chinese restaurant this morning in Aberdeen. Chan then posted a photo on social media, saying that he found out many restaurants are now participating the July 30 percent off campaign.

Chan encouraged the public to spend more and to revive the city's economy, adding that more discount offers are coming in August alongside the vouchers.

Citizens who wish to collect the first consumption voucher worth HK$2,000 on August 1 will have to complete online registration no later than today. Otherwise they will have to collect the voucher a month later.
