Sinaproc: Sahara dust returns to Panama

The Sahara dust phenomenon is returning to Panama this week, Carlos Rumbo, director of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), warned this Wednesday, July 15.

According to Rumbo, this Thursday the 16th is expected to be the day with the highest concentration, so they recommend that asthmatics and allergy sufferers avoid exposure.

He added that until this Friday, July 17, particles from the Saharan dust cloud will be entering Panama.

The important thing is not to alarm the population, since this is a phenomenon that we register annually between June and August in the region, however we ask people to take some measures such as maintaining the use of a mask, glasses and staying at home, if it does not require leaving, he said.

At the end of last June, a thick mist or haze could be noticed in the country that lasted a couple of days. The Sahara dust phenomenon had impacted the country, this time in a more remarkable way.
