Shops suspected of selling chilled meat as fresh meat

In a blitz operation today, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department raided shops on Yau San Street, Yuen Long, suspected of selling chilled meat as fresh meat.

FEHD officers marked and sealed about 60 kilograms of suspected chilled pork at a shop for further investigation. One pork sample was also collected for testing of preservatives.

Prosecution will be initiated if sufficient evidence is collected.

Anyone selling chilled meat without permission commits an offence and is liable to a maximum fine of HK$50,000 and six months' imprisonment on conviction.
