Several communities across BVI told to brace for scheduled outage

Residents in several communities and islands across the territory have been advised to brace for outages later tonight.

The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) said there will be no electricity supply from 11 pm today Wednesday, October 13 to 6 am on Thursday, October 14.

“The purpose of this outage is for the maintenance of the high voltage system,” the BVIEC stated in a public advisory on Monday.

The affected areas will be Purcell Estate, Port Purcell, Horsepath, Huntums Ghut, Fort Hill, Baugher’s Bay, Kingstown, Brandywine Bay, Paraquita Bay, Fat Hog’s Bay, East End, Greenland, Hawks Nest, the entire Ridge, Camanoe, Scrub Island, Beef Island and the entire island of Virgin Gorda.

The Electricity Corporation has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
