Seven more hotels including W Hong Kong to offer rooms for quarantine

W Hong Kong in West Kowloon and The Langham, Hong Kong in Tsim Sha Tsui are among the seven new hotels that will serve as designated quarantine hotels starting next year.

These new hotels along with 37 other quarantine hotels included in the previous round of the scheme will offer about 12,500 rooms for returnees to undergo the 21-day quarantine, government said Friday.

The five other hotels are Novotel Citygate Hong Kong in Tung Chung, Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East in Tseung Kwan O, Nina Hotel Causeway Bay, Hotel Ease Mong Kok, and iclub Mong Kok Hotel.

To alleviate the current market demand for hotel rooms, four of the seven new quarantine hotels will commence business before March 1, 2022, according to the government.

“W Hong Kong and Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East will commence business in January 2022, and Nina Hotel Causeway Bay and iclub Mong Kok Hotel will start operation in February 2022," the release read.

This round of the designated quarantine hotel scheme will end on February 28, 2022, while the next round of the scheme with the 44 hotels will be extended for two months until July 31, 2022 to cover long public holidays and summer holidays.

Some 1,000 additional rooms have been made available in the next round of the scheme as well to cope with the possible increase in market demand.

Details including room rates will be uploaded to the dedicated website at www.designatedhotel.gov.hk.
