Seven dead bodies were found the morning of this Saturday, July 18, in a wooded area of the José Domingo Espinar residential complex in the township of Cristóbal in Colón.
These are the seven young people who were reported missing on the night of Friday, July 17 by their parents, after they had gone out to bathe in Lake Gatún since noon, along with six other teenagers.
It was a group of 13 young people, among these, nine are from the Valle Verde sector of Puerto Escondido, and the rest from Panama City, who were visiting.
Of those, six are still alive.
The victims are four women and three men. And the ages are between 13 years and 20 years.
According to preliminary investigations, five bodies were inside a bunker and two outside.
The discovery was made by the relatives after undertaking a search despite the fact that they had already made the complaint of the disappearance of the boys to the Police.
According to the first statements of those who managed to escape, when they were on their way to the lake, they were intercepted by two armed men. They were then stripped of their cell phones and other belongings.
Police found some bullet casings at the scene. But it will be the investigations of the Public Ministry that will determine if they died by blows or gunshots.
At this time, the six survivors are at the headquarters of the Public Ministry. Meanwhile, Legal Medicine is preparing for the removal of the corpses.
