Schools need 70pc vaccination rate to resume full-day classes

Schools can apply for resuming full-day classes if the vaccination rate of both teachers and students reaches 70 percent, the Education Bureau said in a letter.

The Bureau sent a letter to all primary and secondary schools in the city on Friday, saying that if the vaccination rate of teachers, other staff members and students reaches 70 percent, the school will be allowed to resume full-day classes. Still the resumption will depend on the actual circumstances.

For students who opt for Sinovac vaccine, those aged 12 to 18 must received two doses of the vaccine. For those who choose BioNTech vaccine, students aged 12 to 17 can receive only one dose, while those aged 18 or above must receive two doses.

On the other hand, teachers, teaching and non-teaching staff must receive two doses of Sinovac or BioNTech vaccine.

Even the school has yet to achieve the goal of 70 percent vaccination rate, certain year which can fulfill this condition can resume full-day classes as well.
