Rishi Sunak has announced that Britain is prepared to take down any Chinese spy balloons that may be flying over UK airspace

The government, he says, is committed to ensuring the country's safety and is willing to take whatever measures necessary.

Sunak reassured the public that the UK has the necessary capabilities to deal with airborne threats and that the quick reaction alert force, consisting of 24/7 ready Typhoon planes, is in place to monitor the skies.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has initiated a security review in response to reports of Chinese surveillance balloons operating over Britain.

The government, according to Sunak, is in close collaboration with its allies and is ready to take action as needed.
