Real-name tickets needed for Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge buses starting Tuesday

Starting from Tuesday, a passenger will need to buy tickets for “golden buses” running on Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge with his real name and identity card number.

The new arrangement is introduced after ticket scalping – a ticket of HK$65 was put online at a price of over HK$ 1,000 due to high demands before Lunar New Year.

People have started returning to the mainland, as they need to undergo 21-day quarantine before seeing their mainland relatives during Lunar New Year on February 1.

It means people would have to leave Hong Kong no later than January 10 in order to finish quarantine in time.

The shuttle bus company said on its website that to maintain the orderly purchase of tickets, passengers are required to provide their name and valid ID card numbers to buy the tickets online or through Wechat.

The personal info will be printed on the ticket, and passengers are required to present the original copy of their ID card before boarding the bus.
