Priority border crossing for around 1,000 HK students to the mainland

A total of 991 applications for priority to cross the border were received under the new arrangement for Hong Kong's students to seek to enter the mainland under quotas, said the Education Bureau.

"836 applications were approved," said a spokesperson of the Education Bureau, "confirmation emails were sent to the students to inform them about the arrangements for starting the journey."

The bureau added around 80 percent of students decided to enter the mainland by land transportation.

Destinations of students to apply are scattered, while Guangdong and Fujian province ranks the top two, according to the spokesperson.

The application for the priority border crossing was closed. Students could seek more information by contacting the bureau for further arrangements.
