PRD is notified for the sanction for breaching sanitary restrictions; will not appeal and enable donations account to pay fine

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) notified, on Monday June 22, the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) of the fine of $50,000 for violating health restrictions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

The sanction was announced last Friday, June 19, after a day before, deputies and executives of the ruling collective held a meeting at the Jimmy's Grill, at a time when crowds of more than 10 people are prohibited and the closure of the restaurants.

In a statement the PRD states that the party's general secretary, Pedro Miguel González, attended to Minsa officials at their offices.

The PRD highlights that it will not oppose the sanction, "although there are legal arguments" to do so and that the party will not take any action against the sanction of the Health authorities, since they consider that "it could lead to a process of unnecessary waste of time”.

Likewise, it was reiterated that the fine will not be paid with the funds of the electoral subsidy and that for this purpose one of the private donation accounts will be enabled to obtain the funds to cancel the sanction.

Finally, it was announced that the progress of the collection will be periodically reported digitally.

The meeting called by the PRD directive was given to form the payroll of the ruling party in order to choose the new directive of the National Assembly.

This meeting generated strong questions and protests against the deputies and directors of the PRD, since the Minsa is demanding that people stay at home and avoid crowds to avoid the spread of the virus.
