(Policy Address 2021) HK to construct three wetland parks, revive Ma Liu Shui reclamation project

Three wetland conservation parks will be built in New Territories North, while authorities revive a reclamation project at Ma Liu Shui to provide land for IT development.

Speaking at a press conference after her policy address, Lam said Hong Kong must strike a balance between development and conservation.

She said the SAR will resume land including private fish ponds to construct three wetland conservation parks, namely Nam Sang Wai, Sam Po Shue, and Hoo Hok Wai. The three parks will take up 300 to 520 hectares of land respectively.

Meanwhile, the government is set to revive the Ma Liu Shui reclamation project. Along with the land vacated after relocating the Shatin Sewage Treatment Works to caverns, more than 88 hectares of land will be available for IT development.
