Police seized five speedboats connected to smuggling cases

Police arrested three men and seized five speedboats believed to be used for smuggling.

In an operation last Thursday, police busted a warehouse in Pat Heung and found five speedboats in its courtyard.

The five speedboats, 17 meters long, were estimated to cost HK$7 million. Another 22 outboard motors were also found.

At that time, two men were removing parts from the speedboats. Another man sat inside an office at the warehouse, believed to be keeping watch.

Two of the three have triad background. They were released on bail and have to report back to police in the beginning of next month.

Police believed the criminals were trying to remove the motors from speedboats so that they could be transported separately, making it easier for them to avoid police detection.
