Plan to allow families and friends in UK to meet for Christmas

Families and friends in all of the four UK nations will be allowed to meet for a small number of days over Christmas.

The details have not yet been announced in full — and there's a warning that this will not be a normal festive period, with the danger of coronavirus transmission remaining high.

It’s thought households may be allowed to meet together for a total of five days. Boris Johnson is expected to announce a new tougher system of tiered restrictions when England ends its current lockdown on 2nd December.
