Passerby struck in the shoulder by ‘flying’ turtle in Causeway Bay, both survive

Turtles are a symbol of good luck in Chinese culture, but if you are unsuspectingly struck by one while walking on the streets, you might think otherwise.

A woman walking near the SOGO Department Store in Causeway Bay was on Wednesday afternoon struck by a turtle falling from height, causing injuries to her shoulder.

The woman was conscious and was sent to Ruttonjee Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the turtle - a Red-Eared Slider weighing 2 to 3 kilograms - survived the fall. Police are now investigating the incident and have notified relevant government departments to examine the animal.
