Over 130 Chinese higher education institutions to admit HK students

The number of higher education institutions in China participating in the scheme for admission of Hong Kong Students will increase to 132, the Ministry of Education of China announced Thursday.

The institutions, from 21 provinces or municipalities and one autonomous region of the mainland, will accept applications from candidates sitting for the HKDSE Examination in 2023.

The newly joined institutions to the scheme include the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing Jiaotong University, and the Communication University of Zhejiang.

Students interested in participating in the scheme for admission of Hong Kong Students for the 2023/24 academic year can log on to the designated website to apply online from March 1 to 31, 2023, and subsequently review and confirm application verification results before April 10.

Those who have passed the application verification must pay the application fee by April 30, after which the Chinese institutions may arrange interviews based on the application information submitted by students.

Institutions will announce admission results in late July 2023 and arrange for supplementary enrolment according to the enrollment situation.

The Education Bureau welcomed the announcement of the detailed arrangements of the admission scheme. "We encourage Hong Kong students to pursue further studies on the mainland through the scheme and seize the opportunity to learn about the country's latest social, economic and cultural landscape, and plan for their future development," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added that the School Principal Nomination Scheme is also under the admission scheme, and each secondary school can nominate up to eight students.
