Organically grown area doubles in past 5 years

In Hungary, the size of the organically grown area has doubled in the last five years.

According to the Institute for Organic Agriculture, the country ranks 10th in the world in terms of the annual rate of expansion, and 12th in terms of the area of organic fruit plantations, and in terms of the proportion of land involved in organic farming, according to the Institute for Organic Agriculture (ÖMKi).

Praising the results, profitline.hu also emphasized that research and development in support of sustainable farming and the related transfer of knowledge are gaining in value in agriculture. ÖMKi emphasized that agro-ecological methods that result in more sustainable production could give Hungary a competitive advantage.
