No, the King of Bahrain does not have a robot bodyguard

A new video has being doing the rounds online, purportedly featuring Bahrain’s King - Hamad bin Isa bin Salman al-Khalifa – and his ‘robot bodyguard’.

The video has been watched thousands of times online, as well as featured on DY365 network news channel.

Unfortunately, as much as we’d love the video to be true – robot bodyguards are certainly a concept we can get behind – it’s not. A closer look at the video shows that the Emir of Bahrain was not featured, and the ‘robot’ in question is actually a person dressed up.

The video was recorded during the IDEX security exhibition last year, held at Dubai International Financial Center. You can see the UAE flag on the eight-foot ‘robot’ as he walks by the camera.

The robot in questions is actually called ‘Titan’ which is a regular figure at many of Dubai’s trade expos. Titan is the world’s first commercial entertainment robot artist, which was developed by British company Cyberstein.

You can check out Titan in all his glory below.
