No local cases today, first time in four months

Hong Kong reports zero local infections for the first time in four months, with six imported new infections.

Authorities last detected zero locally acquired cases in mid-November, before the fourth wave of outbreak struck the city.

The fresh cases involve four arrivals, two of each from India and the Phillippines, as well as passengers from Pakistan and Indonesia.

The Centre of Health Protection reported 11 new cases yesterday, including an untraced patient involving a 38-year-old Japanese female flight attendant who had been to GO24 Fitness at North Point multiple times during her incubation and infectious period.

Some 20 classmates and four instructors were subjected to quarantine orders.

The woman lives in a subdivided flat in Causeway Bay where around 10 other tenants will now need to be quarantined. A compulsory testing order had also been issued for the building.

As of Friday, the city’s official tally stood at 11,440, which included 205 fatalities.
