Nine more quarantine hotels to provide 4,000 rooms

The Charterhouse Causeway Bay and Nina Hotel Kowloon East are among nine hotels that will be converted into designated quarantine hotels starting early May to cope with the surging demand.

The seven others are Dorsett Kwun Tong, OZO Wesley Hong Kong, Regala Skycity Hotel, Regal Kowloon Hotel, Silka Seaview Hotel, Silka Tsuen Wan, and The Langham.

These nine hotels were either used or reserved as community isolation facilities earlier as the city battled the fifth wave of the pandemic outbreak.

It is expected the nine hotels can provide around 4,000 more rooms for returnees to undergo the seven-day quarantine.

The hotels will commence service and accept room bookings from early May onward, according to the government.

This came as the government earlier eased the border control measures, allowing non-Hong Kong residents to enter the city starting May 1. They must be fully vaccinated, obtain negative PCR test result 48 hours before boarding the plane and have a room reservation at a designated quarantine.
