MTR to suspend rail services between Mong Kok East and Hung Hom on April 18

East Rail services between Mong Kok East and Hung Hom stations will be suspended once again on April 18, the third of ten suspension days this year to allow construction works for the Shatin to Central Rail Link.

MTR Corp said the East Rail services will end at Mong Kok East station, while point-to-point free shuttle bus services between Hung Hom and Kowloon Tong stations will be provided.

But it advised passengers commuting between Hung Hom and places along the East Rail Line to take alternative routes via the Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line or West Rail Line at interchange stations including Kowloon Tong, Prince Edward, Mong Kok, Mei Foo and East Tsim Sha Tsui stations.

A special fare arrangement will also be in place on that day to ensure passengers not to be overcharged.

Earlier, the MTR Corp announced it would be suspending services between Hung Hom and Mong Kok East stations on 10 selected Sundays from January to October to make room for bifurcation works for the extension of the East Rail Line across the harbor to Admiralty station.

The first and second suspension days were on January 10 and February 21 respectively, while the other seven construction days will be confirmed consequently depending on weather conditions.
