MTR stations and exits may shut due to protests

Train stations and exits may be closed anytime due to protests on Hong Kong Island and Tsim Sha Tsui, MTR Corporation said.

This came as thousands protesters took to the street on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon on the 18th weekend of the anti-fugitive protest to voice their opposition against the newly launched emergency and anti-mask laws.

MTRC announced to completely halt train services on Friday night and yesterday, as it said many station had facilities being vandalized by protesters.

It has resumed services in 45 stations this morning but 48 remain closed. Train services today will also end early at 9pm to buy time for repair works, the railway operator said.
