MTR offers free rides for the elderly and disabled

The MTR Corporation will offer free rides for people aged above 65 on November 20.

According to the statement published by MTR, Elder Octopus and JoyYou Card holders aged 65 and above could enjoy free rides for MTR, light rail, and MTR bus on Senior Citizens' Day, with no fare being deducted from their cards when taking the transportation.

"We have provided giant signage to improve the way-finding within stations for facilitating our elderly customer services," said Jeny Yeung Mei-chun, Hong Kong Transport Services Director of MTR Corporation.

Separately, the MTR will also provide free rides for people who hold a valid Registration Card for People with Disabilities or Personalised Octopus card with "Persons with Disabilities Status" together with one accompanying caretaker on November 13.

Eligible people will be exempted from fares for the MTR network.
