The Minister of Health of Panama, Luis Francisco Sucre reported this Thursday July 9, that in coordination with a team of the National Government, private company and leaders in the province of Los Santos, they evaluated some economic activities for their opening, such as beauty salons, construction, workshops of furniture, folkloric event workshops, car dealers and restaurants.
The restaurants could open but meet the requirements of having the tables two meters away and use up to 25 or 30% of the capacity within the premises, while the craft houses are familiar and do not cause large crowds, Sucre said.
The Minister of Health expressed that they have considered several points for the reopening of economic activities, among them the place where the opening will take place, the RT of that area, the installed capacity in terms of health to be able to provide care if necessary due to an increase of cases and what are the economic services that can be "opened without having a very strong impact on the pandemic, seeking not to see an increase in the number of people on the street."
Regarding the construction branch, Sucre expressed: we have not yet made that decision but they are lines that are being looked at, and it could be divided into phases, whether they are streets, buildings, or schools and the priority we have to build that project.
The Minister of Health explained that they are asking companies to approve the restart of their operations to try to make the workforce local, if the company has a traceability from another place, testing it further 48 hours before enter the construction to those people who travel example from Panama, La Chorrera or Arraiján, where there is an increase in cases.
This week the mayor and authorities of Los Santos requested the placement of the control point on the bridge over the La Villa river, as an additional preventive measure to mitigate the number of infections.
Sucre's statements were made during a visit by the operations center for community control and traceability at the national level, which operates at C5 in Ancón.
