Ministry of Health orders the mandatory use of masks throughout Panama

The Ministry of Health (Minsa), through the General Directorate of Public Health, issued a resolution by which the use of masks is mandatory in the Republic of Panama, as part of the actions to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus.

Nadja Porcell, general director of Public Health, signed the order 1 June, 2020 for the mandatory use of masks or masks, for nationals and foreigners, to circulate throughout the territory of the Republic of Panama.

Yesterday, Monday, the second block of economic activities came into operation, as part of the process of gradual return to the new normality and at the same time the absolute quarantine was ended. This scenario increased the movement of people on the streets.

Although most commercial venues were requiring the use of face masks, on public transportation it was only a recommendation, there was no rule forcing people to wear them.

With this decision, Minsa, is applying another preventive action is to prevent the spread of the virus, which in Panama registers 13,837 confirmed cases and 344 deaths.

Health authorities reported that failure to comply with this provision carries the penalties established by health laws and regulations.
