Latest batch of German-made BioNTech vaccines arrives in HK

The latest batch of about 956,000 doses of German-made BioNTech vaccines arrived in Hong Kong on Friday.

The vaccine was manufactured by BioNTech and filled and finished at a plant in Baxter, Germany.

Government said after the shipment arrived, staff carried out stringent checking and inspection of the vaccine to ensure that it complies with the product specifications and that the transportation process follows the relevant cold-chain requirements.

It added that the vaccines will be put in validated ultra-low temperature freezers to ensure its proper storage specified by the drug manufacturer.

The labels of these vaccine vials contain English and simplified Chinese. The vaccine concerned was manufactured, filled and finished by the manufacturers in Germany in accordance with approved specifications, the government pointed out.
