Intelligence Report Reveals Details of Alleged Ukrainian Attack on Russian Gas Pipelines

The Washington Post reported that the Biden administration received an intelligence report from a European intelligence service three months before an underwater explosion disabled the Nord Stream pipelines, which supply natural gas from Russia to Germany.

The report claimed that Ukraine had a plan for an attack using a small team of divers who reported directly to the Ukrainian military commander.

The attack was allegedly planned to be carried out in June 2022, using explosives planted by a small boat with six men using false identities.

The information was corroborated by security officials from several countries, but it is disputed who carried out the attack and Russia has blamed the US and its allies.

The US and other foreign allies have given Ukraine weapons, but have warned against targeting civilian infrastructure.

The US had previously opposed the Nord Stream 2 project and put pressure on Germany to halt its final authorization.
