HSBC cancels Ted Hui’s credit card

Self-exiled former lawmaker Ted Hui Chi-fung and his family’s credit cards have been cancelled by the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) as a “commercial decision”.

Without prior notice, the bank deducted the credits on the cards, and did not return the money inside, the former Democratic Party legislator said on his social media account this morning.

He added that HSBC asked him to make a call and “see what the bank can do about it”.

Hui complained that HSBC had ruined Hong Kong's banking and financial system, so he requested the bank explain the incident publicly and demanded the regulatory institutions look into the issue.
