How popular is Putin in Russia?

In September, there will be parliamentary elections in Russia, and the winner and future president has long been clear to many: Vladimir Putin and his United Russia party. The most important opposition figures are in prison, there is hardly any independent press left, but Putin also has high approval ratings among the population.

In Dagestan, too, more than 70 percent are in favor of the incumbent president. Shamil Aliyev is campaigning for a local United Russia candidate. Why is he for Putin? And why is he convinced that only Putin and United Russia can guarantee the stability of this region, which used to be at war?
