Hong Kong's future to be mapped out in upcoming policy address

Mapping out Hong Kong’s future will be the focus of the upcoming policy address released in October, Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said.

On a radio program, Lam said her last policy address for this term of government will not focus on answering the public’s demand. Instead, it will put emphasis on the SAR’s land and infrastructure development, as well as focus on how Hong Kong can better utilize Beijing’s 14th five-year plan, the Greater Bay Area development and the Belt and Road Initiative.

“It will sound like a policy address done by a new Chief Executive,” she said, adding she is prepared for the public's criticisms of the policy address.

But Lam did not disclose whether she will seek a second term.

Lam said she has done “a not too bad job” over the past four year, adding she has fulfilled the vast majority of around 900 policies she has put forth.
