Hong Kong’s Tiffany Yue leaps into National Games long jump final

Hong Kong’s Tiffany Yue Ya-xin has qualified for the women's long jump finals at the National Games on Thursday.

The 23-year-old leaped 5.99 meters with her second jump of the competition to claim the last spot in the final. She ranked 12th among the 18 competitors in the event.

Yue said she is looking forward to breaking her personal best -- 6.31 m -- in the final.

She told reporters that it has been a long time since she last competed, and was not in her best form in the three jumps.

Yue also said she hopes she could earn a medal for the Hong Kong team in the final scheduled at 7.15pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile, both Hong Kong’s men’s and women’s table tennis doubles suffered first round exits.

Hong Kong’s Ng Wing-lam and Chau Wing-sze lost 3-1 to the Zhejiang team, while Choy Chun-kit and Su Zhi lost 3-0 to team Hubei.
