Hong Kong may issue Strong Wind Signal No. 3 early tomorrow morning

The Observatory will consider issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3, to replace the Strong Monsoon Signal early tomorrow morning.

According to the Observatory, the area of low pressure over the central part of the South China Sea has intensified into a tropical depression at 3.51pm.

The tropical depression currently hovering at more than 600 kilometers south-southwest of Hong Kong will intensify gradually and will begin to take a more northerly track tomorrow, moving towards the vicinity of Hainan Island gradually.

“It will be closer to the coast of Guangdong as compared with the previous forecast,” said the HKO.

The weather watchdog warned that under the combined influence of the northeast monsoon and the tropical depression, it will be windy with heavy rain, squalls, and rough seas with swells locally tomorrow to early Sunday.

The temperature for tonight and tomorrow will range between 26 and 29 degrees.
