HKU students to take turns for in-person lectures

Students of the University of Hong Kong are set to take turns returning to campus for in-person lectures starting next school year.

In a Facebook post, the university’s student union announced that students in the first semester of the coming school year must take turns week-by-week to attend in-person lectures.

HKU Vice-President Professor Ian Holliday, in an email to HKU students in May, stated that all courses in the 2021-22 school year will resume face-to-face teaching. However, a 75 percent cap on the seating capacity of classrooms remains.

In view of the seating cap, students with their student ID ending with an odd number will attend on-campus lectures during odd-numbered teaching weeks, and vice versa.

Meanwhile, all lectures will still be video recorded and made available online for students.
