Hong Kong’s largest public transport interchange, with an indoor waiting area for buses, is set to open this Friday on April 2 in one of the city’s biggest redevelopment areas.
The interchange, located at the former public transport interchange that spans Yue Man Square, Yan Oi Court and Tung Yan Street in the Kwun Tong town center, covers around 15,000 square feet.
The Two-storey facility will have a bus terminal serving eight routes on the upper floor and a minibus terminal serving 21 routes on the lower platform.
The indoor waiting area of the bus terminal is integrated with the shopping center Yue Man Square, allowing passengers to wait for buses in an air-conditioned environment.
An artificial intelligence system with sensors will be installed at the bus gates to ensure the gates only open when passengers are boarding buses.
While there will be smart ventilation devices placed at the minibus terminal to ensure fresh airflow.
The interchange will have a total of 10 entrances and exits, which are linked to main streets including Yue Man Square, Hip Wo Street, Mut Wah Street and Hong Ning Road. The entrances and exits are also connected to a 24-hour pedestrian passage in the shopping center.
After the interchange is put into service, the 21 green and red minibus routes and eight bus routes along Kwun Tong Road, Yue Man Square, Tung Yan Street and Hip Wo Street will all be relocated to the new facility, alleviate traffic in Kwun Tong.
