Hiker to Green Egg Island sent to hospital by helicopter

A woman who suffered from heatstroke during a hike to Green Egg Island in Sai Kung this morning was taken to hospital by helicopter.

The Hong Kong Observatory issued a very hot weather warning at around 6am this morning.

A 36-year-old woman reported symptoms of heatstroke at 11.03am while hiking on Green Egg Island, which is near Clearwater Bay.

A Government Flying Service helicopter arrived after her friends called the police.

She was taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for treatment.

According to the Observatory, it was 34 degrees Celsius at Sai Kung District at 11am.
