Driver in fatal San Po Kong crash released on bail

A 25-year-old driver involved in the San Po Kong crash on New Year's Eve, where a woman and an old man died, was on Friday released on bail of HK$200,000.

Ryan Ng Ka-chun was charged with dangerous driving causing death for driving his yellow BMW dangerously on Tai Yau Street in San Po Kong on December 31, 2021, causing the death of Shi Wuyang, 23, and Li-Wing-keung, 63.

Ng was discharged from Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Friday morning and headed to Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts.

He appeared before principal magistrate Bina Chainrai and didn't need to enter a plea yet. Chainrai then adjourned the case to March 4, pending further police investigation and forensic reports.

Chainrai also released Ng on bail of HK$200,000. Ng was prohibited from driving and must hand over his driving license. He must not leave Hong Kong and must report to a police station twice a week.
