About half of children will be offered a discretionary place in government and aided primary schools, the Education Bureau said on Friday, before the results of primary one places are announced next Monday (Nov 21).
“There are 43,755 children applying for discretionary places in government and aided primary schools this year, of whom 21,724 (49 percent) will be offered a place in these schools,” a spokesman for the bureau said.
“Among them, a total of 11,790 (54 percent) children are applicants with siblings studying or with parents working in the schools that they have applied to.”
The remaining 9,934 children are selected according to the Points System, the spokesman added.
The bureau reminded parents to bring their copy of the Application Form for Primary One Admission and check the results of their application between 9am and 5pm next Monday at the school they have applied for.
Registration for successful applicant children should be made on next Wednesday or Thursday (Nov 23 & 24) during school hours according to the arrangements of individual schools.
If parents cannot visit the school to check the application results in person, they can check the results on the school website or contact the school by phone.
The Education Bureau will implement digitalization of primary one admission in phases starting from 2023. Parents are encouraged to register with 'iAM Smart +' as early as possible for more convenient and faster services.
If parents have provided an email address in the 'Primary One Application Form' and activated their admission e-Platform account using 'iAM Smart +', they can make choices of schools and check the result of Central Allocation through the e-platform.
