A green minibus heading to High Island Reservoir's East Dam in Sai Kung has started providing full-day service on holidays.
It is announced on Thursday that minibus 9A has started running from morning to night on Sundays and public holidays, for the convenience of hikers.
The East Dam has been a hot spot for hikers, with many using the location as a starting or ending point for their excursions.
There are various hiking spots around the East Dam, including Long Ke Wan, Pak Lap Wan and Fa Shan.
In the past, the route 9A between Pak Tam Chung and East Dam only ran in the afternoons of Sundays and holidays.
During times when the minibus was not available, visitors could only walk from Pak Tam Chung for about 2 to 3 hours to the dam, or take a cab from Sai Kung city center for over HK$100.
With the new schedule, the minibus will run between 9.30am to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays in 20-minute intervals.
A netizen praised the arrangement, saying hikers "waited three years for full-day service."
Another hoped that this arrangement can put an end to cabs overcharging.
