Good Samaritan returns file containing patient data

A lost file containing personal data of 28 patients has been returned by a good Samaritan.

A doctor at Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Fung Yiu King Hospital offered a Community Geriatric Assessment service at an elderly home on September 10, and left a folder at a public car park nearby after finishing the consultation.

The folder included Hong Kong identity card numbers of 28 patients as well as their prescriptions.

The hospital offered an update today, saying the file was later picked up by a citizen. The folder was then passed to a security guard of the car park and returned to the elderly home this morning.

The hospital arranged to collect the folder and confirmed that all the documents inside were intact.
