Gayle King says Harry and Meghan want to be 'united' with Royal Family

Gayle King has indicated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would like to be ‘united’ with the Royal Family as they all move forward from the couple’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Following the headline-grabbing interview with her close friend Oprah, Gayle also made waves with details she’s been able to reveal due to her friendship with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The CBS This Morning anchor recently confirmed that Harry and Meghan had an ‘unproductive’ phone call with Prince Charles and Prince William after the couple’s claims that racist comments were made about their son Archie.

Speaking about the Royal Family drama on Thursday’s The Drew Barrymore Show, the 66-year-old explained: ‘I think that interview opened up conversations that people weren’t prepared to have or didn’t want to have.

‘But I think, ultimately, it’s about a family that wants to be united and be together and I’m hoping that will be the case.’

She later added: ‘Sometimes conversations are very difficult. There’s nothing healthy when you don’t talk, so let’s all wish that for all involved in that particular story.’

Gayle was among Meghan’s closest friends invited to her 2019 baby shower in New York, while Oprah was famously a guest at Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding.

During their sit-down with Oprah last month, the couple talked about the pressures of life within the royal family before they stepped back and moved to Canada, then California.

Meghan spoke out about how she had struggled with her mental health, and claimed she had been told not to seek professional help because of how it would look.

The couple also accused an unnamed member of the royal family – not the Queen or Philip – of raising concerns about how dark their future children’s skin tone would be.
