‘Furious’ Hong Kong police plan crackdown on triads over gangster showdown

Force insider says police top brass ‘furious’ over gang skirmish in Central, with investigation pointing to dispute between Sun Yee On and Wo Shing Wo triad groups.

“Furious” police top brass will spare no effort to track down gangsters who used a handgun and machetes in a predawn skirmish near a popular Hong Kong entertainment district, a force insider has revealed.

A senior officer told the Post that police would raid several triad-controlled entertainment venues and gambling dens across Hong Kong Island on Friday night in a show of force against the gangs involved in the incident, in which two shots were fired and three men injured near Lan Kwai Fong.

“The force’s management is furious over the clash between the two triad gangs who disregarded law and order,” the source said.
