From June 1 onwards ID cards will be valid up to 15 years

The Electoral Tribunal of Panama (TE) announced on 28 May that from 1 June 2020, changes will be made in the issuance of the ID and other cards of Panamanian residents (foreigners), which include a validity of 10-15 years and reduction in cost of duplicates.

TE clarifies that those identity documents that have already been issued will continue with the validity that it indicates, while those that expired or are about to expire once requested will go under the new policy.

The cost for ID for the first time is free; a first duplicate will be $15.00, the youth identification cards will cost $4.00 with a validity of 5 years; and for those who make duplicates, the cost was unified at $25.00

While the resident cards will cost $50.00 after the third application.

The TE stressed that the 50% discount for retirees will be maintained.
