Five elderlies arrested for gambling on street

Five elderly people aged 60 to 68 were arrested in Hing Tin Estate, Lam Tin, for gambling in public on Tuesday.

The arrests came as Kwun Tong police initiated operations to combat illegal street gambling activities.

The five elders, including three men and two women, were arrested for gambling in the street and are now remanded in custody for questioning.

Officers also seized some gambling paraphernalia and a small amount of cash when making the arrests.

Police warned the public that illegal gambling in the street is a serious offense and the maximum penalty upon conviction carries a HK$30,000 fine and nine months' imprisonment.
