Ex-councillor called himself 'lord', groped policeman and attacked man in 80s

A former parish councillor attacked a pensioner and left him with a head injury a week after being convicted for groping a policeman’s thigh.

Kieran Reed, 37, admitted to assaulting Anthony Clarke, who is in his 80s, in Chelmsford, Essex, on April 30.

While full details of the attack have not emerged, magistrates heard how it involved ‘pushing and shoving’ and led to the victim injuring his head.

Today at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court in Warrington, Reed changed his plea to guilty to the charge of Section 20 assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) without intent.

He spoke to confirm his date of birth, address and full name as Kieran Joshua Reed, correcting the version given at Colchester Magistrates’ Court of ‘Lord Kieran Reed’.

The assault was just over a week after Reed, from Widnes, Cheshire, was convicted of sexually assaulting a policeman.

He told the officer he was ‘gorgeous’ and had a ‘lovely leg’ before groping his thigh and asking him how he ironed his trousers.

Reed, a former Halebank parish councillor, also groped a customer’s buttock at the The Bradley pub in Widnes and tried to touch a taxi driver’s penis, the Liverpool Echo reports.

All four matters were adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared ahead of sentencing. A date was fixed for later this month.

Reed was granted conditional bail with an amended curfew to allow him to attend sessions intended to address his alcohol issues.

He was also barred from entering Essex other than to attend court or contacting the victim or another named person.

Reed lost his seat as an independent councillor on Halebank Parish Council at the last election in May after taking 35 votes, 2% of the ballot, about a fortnight after his sexual assault trial.
